PUTTING THE CLUB IN CLUB ONE SEVEN PHUKET
What is a Club? A place to meet, socialize, chat, dine together, swim together,
have a cock-tail or work-out together. It also needs someone to coordinate all
these activities and more. A social get together at sea, to the beach, a night in the
town to see a show. Everything that brings guests together ensuring you leave
Patong knowing many more people than you did when you arrived.
Club One Seven Phuket has always been great but each year, hard work and
listening to guests has brought this popular destination close to ideal and still more
to come.
The double fronted premises have been opened up and extended forward, almost to
the sidewalk yet leaving room for a few exterior tables. The front is wall to wall
and floor to ceiling glass with a view of Art Shops backed by huge Palm trees and
a Tropical mountain we never noticed before.
As you enter, the giant sliding glass doors part to reveal the newly upgraded Club
One Seven Home Dining Café & Lounge. At the front and center is the Rainbow
Bar where every member of the staff has become expert at whipping up your
favourite cock-tail. Sitting around the bar with a drink or even dining is the most
social spot to meet other guests. The entire huge expansive lobby is divided into
function areas with lots of social seating in large comfortable lounge chairs to just
sit, read a book, use your laptop and people watch. There are still the elegant
polished wood dining tables interspersed with comfortable lounges and large
cushions. There’s even a private dining area in cozy Pink for those who want to be
exclusive. All of this works because the fabulous new stainless steel kitchen is
under the control of a master chef who offers a great and incredibly inexpensive
menu of Thai and Western food for guests and passer’s by. A great feature is the
Basket selection for more casual pre-club dining or lunch. Fresh from the sea Fish & Chips, Boneless Chicken & Chips, New Orleans style Popcorn Shrimp & chips
as well as Garden fresh breaded veggies and chips. Breakfast the way you like it is
as always inclusive with accommodation.
As if all this isn’t enough Club One Seven Phuket also offers the Cafe Corner with
designer coffee, iced drinks and teas to wash down a wonderful selection of cakes
and pastries on display to tempt you the minute you arrive.
Reception area has been moved to the back where guests are greeted, seated and
offered a cooling drink while they check-in. This is beside a huge see through
aquarium which one guest thought was a Sushi Bar. Ha Ha. The entire ground
floor is tied together with a highly polished granite floor that looks like an inviting
beach in a sand colour. Very elegant.
The rooms are still their usual comfortable, king size bed, with TV, Wi-Fi, fridge,
and telephone. New Flat screens are soon to up-grade a good selection of various
language channels. Some rooms look out over the street to a Tropical view of the
Patong mountain range. Those on the back have a river view and One Seven
garden view where you can stand on your balcony and enjoy a selection of
interesting guests in near invisible swim suits lounging around the pool. A feature
of the garden is two very special Garden suites (also known as the Grand Deluxe
rooms)... step out your door into the cool water any time of day. Across the
garden is a well equipped Gym for well equipped guests.
The pool garden is a favourite spot for the 4 to 6, 50 Baht Beer Happy Hour...
outsiders welcome inside or out. In the works and under consideration are steam
room, massage room and other interesting features. Would a Toy Boy vending
machine be too much to hope for?
Club One Seven Phuket is just a short, comfortable walk to the beach, the long tail
boats to Freedom Beach or Paradise Beach and then there’s JungCeylon for top
shopping and fabulous Movie Houses for a cool diversion in the afternoon.
We can’t forget the easy access to the World Famous Paradise Gay Village for
nights on the town, and when it’s over you will want to escape back to The Art
District and the peace and quiet of CLUB ONE SEVEN PHUKET to rest,
entertain, be entertained and refresh for your next day’s outing from YOUR
HOME AWAY FROM HOME!

Phuket Pride Festival 2007
Great Beach, Gorgeous Bodies, and Elephants
Phuket Pride 2007 big success
By Dansee
Never done before in the 7 year history of Phuket Gay Pride Festival, this year the 8th Annual Phuket Pride Festival "Be Free and Happy" was held on Patong Beach; truly Sand, Sea and Fun. Four nights and 3 days of gay extravaganza, with a Red Carpet Party in Paradise, a Carnival at Loma Park, a brilliant opening and closing fireworks display presented by Club One Seven, the Baan Yin Dee Beach Volleyball tournament, the Seduction Discotheque Beach Boy contest. The finale was the Grand Pride parade, and nightly party featuring national and international artists and entertainers, such as Miss Gay Universe 2006 - Candi Stratton, DJ Maxxx, DJ Mikey Mike, DJ Little Monkey, DJ Paolo Bardelli, DJ Nat, and Khun Day.
This year the Phuket Pride Festival comprised a huge 3 day Carnival on the Beach, officially launched by the Mayor of Patong Municipality; Khun Pian and his Deputy Mayor; Khun Chairat. Immediately following the ribbon cutting we were entranced by a brilliant fireworks display, sponsored by Club One Seven Bed & Breakfast. Complimenting the stunning stage, designed by Khun Wut of Hiranyikara Spa, the carnival was supported by more than 36 vendors, such as Singha Beer, Suzuki, Seduction Discotheque, Loxley Trading - Joyce Gel for Men, Patong Hospital MSM Project, Boat Bar Disco, Club One Seven Bed & Breakfast Boutique Hotel, Hiranyikara Spa, Sby Sby Bar, Sby Leisure Travel & Tour, Sby Web Hosting, Knud's Bar Thai Best Boys, La Diva Restaurant, James Dean Bar, James Dean and Friends Bar, Orchid Bar, Time Bar, Maprang Bar, and many others.
The renowned Phuket Mafia team, led by Khun David Mitchelhill, won the overall championship Beach Volleyball tournament, and took away more than 20,000 baht in prizes. Khun Ko representing Club One Seven Bed & Breakfast won both the titles of Mr. Popular and Mr. Seduction Beach Boy Championship, winning over 50,000 baht in prizes.
The highlight of the yearly Phuket Pride Festival is still of course the Grand Parade on the last day along the 3km long Patong beach road, and drew more than twenty thousand spectators. This year, more than 17 floats representing gay and gay friendly hotels, bars, disco, restaurants and Patong Hospital, took part. Thank to Khun Knud for bringing back the elephants into the parade, which were widely missed last year. The pachyderms are truly unique to Phuket gay pride and have become the signature feature of the Phuket Pride grand parade. To reach out to broader community, this year's parade ended at the Patong Soccer Stadium across from the beach carnival, in order for the evening to continue with a party on the beach. To thanks the committee for their hard works, Club One Seven Bed & Breakfast sponsored another dramatic fireworks display to end the festival with a bang.
The Phuket Pride executive committee has indeed taken the Phuket Pride Festival to a higher level. Of course the success of this year Phuket Pride Festival has only been achieved through our generous sponsors as listed below:
